VIDEO INFORMATION

Objectives

Our objective is to hit a solid chip shot with the wood, get it close to the hole, make a par, and keep going to the next hole.

Description

In this shot, the ball is sitting in a very poor lie just outside the green. Normally, we would use a sand wedge or a wedge to hit this, but given the conditions we must try something different. The idea is to use a fairway wood and stroke it as if it was a putter and get the ball rolling close to the hole.

Once you are properly set up, you are ready to make your stroke. Take the wood back in a straight line, keeping the face facing to the front. Then, accelerate through impact into a full follow through holding your finish. Remember you want to use your shoulders; no body motion is needed or wanted for this shot.

The ball should come out rolling, a few inches right of the hole and gradually breaking towards the hole.
