Helpful Tips On How To Select A Good Set Of Used Golf Clubs
Helpful Tips On How To Select A Good Set Of Used Golf Clubs
03-06-2009

impulsive move to spend a lot on the purchase of a top-of-the-range golf club. This is because, if you find yourself not fit for golf or it is unsuitable for you, you will have nothing to do except regretting over the investment. At the first few stages of your entry to the game of golf, you can manage with a used golf club. Here am I with some tips to help you select a good set of golf clubs.

At the initial phase of your initiation into the game of golf, you can play with rental golf clubs. It is better to hire clubs on rent than buying a new club of your own especially when you lack knowledge of how to choose the right one from a range. You can ask your friends to lend you their clubs for a few days or take clubs on rent from senior golfers.

Used or second-hand golf clubs are available at far lower cost than the first-hand ones. You can make the most of this opportunity to save money by buying a used golf club. I would want you to consult a pro golfer who keeps in-depth information on golf equipments before you make a move to buy a used club. Alternatively, you can surf the internet to take a note of reviews on used golf clubs. Keep in mind what an expert golfer finds suitable may not suit you.

Before selecting a used golf club, hold it in your hand to examine whether it gives you a good grip and a feel of comfort while making swings. How a used golf club does feel in your hand is a measure to weigh at the time of purchase. How better swings you can make depends on the weight of a club and flexibility of its shaft. So, try to buy a used golf club with proper weight and flexible shaft.

Look for a used golf club whose club head is made of stainless steel. It is better to avoid golf clubs with inexpensive alloy heads. I would suggest buying a second hand golf club with a cavity backed heel-and-toe club head. Golf clubs with bigger club heads offer a lot of usability.

If you have made up your mind to play with used golf clubs, it is my advice to buy a half set of golf clubs. The half-set is a combination of five iron clubs including 4, 6, 8 pitching wedge and sand iron. The driver is not necessary to be in the half set as controlling this hardest club is quite difficult. The half set of used golf clubs is not only easier to choose but also fulfilling for most of novice golfers. It helps them set their hands at making efficient and energetic swings.
