Key Elements

Putting set up

Objective

Reason

Consideration

To have the proper set up on the green.

The Putter face should point in the direction of the intended starting line of the putt. The feet, knees, hips, forearms, and shoulders should all be set parallel to this line. The left eye should be positioned over the ball with upper part of your back and neck nearly parallel to the ground. The golf ball should be placed slightly forward in your stance.

Golfers must have the proper set putting set up.

Shoulders

Objective

Reason

Consideration

The shoulders should turn back and through during the swing and should be set parallel to the ball target line during the set up.

The shoulders should turn back and through during the swing and should be set parallel to the ball target line during the set up. In the back swing the left shoulder should turn approximately 90 degrees with the left shoulder turning back over your right foot. In the follow through the shoulders will turn through with the right shoulder closer to the target than your left shoulder. The shoulders should turn on an angle perpendicular to your spine.

Putts are hit with the shoulders and no lower body motion.

Body

Objective

Reason

Consideration

Be able to correctly aim the body parallel to the intended line.

The body needs to be alighned properly during the swing in order to be able to the the shot toward your intented target. Only the club face should be pointed at your intented target. The feet, kness, hips, and shoulders should be postioned parallel left of your intented target.
